Casepoint has joined the competition to build legal AI agents capable of performing specific functions, introducing two specialized tools aimed at automating document relevance evaluations and issue coding within eDiscovery. These agents are integrated into the company’s newly introduced Casepoint IQ platform, which includes audit logs, performance assessments, and human review mechanisms as part of its operational framework.

This initiative reflects a broader trend toward embedding AI directly into legal processes instead of offering isolated tools that claim to overhaul the field. Per the 2026 Thomson Reuters AI report, only 15% of surveyed professional-services firms currently employ agentic AI, though an additional 53% are evaluating or preparing for implementation.

Casepoint IQ Platform

Designed to streamline detailed governmental, legal, and regulatory procedures with human supervision, the Casepoint IQ platform hosts the Relevance Determination Agent and the Issue Coding Agent, both of which form part of an expanding suite of automation tools.

Currently operational within Casepoint’s eDiscovery system and being tested by select early adopters, these agents signify the initial rollout in a larger roadmap of domain-specific AI assistants tailored for governmental, legal, and compliance teams.

Agentic AI Agents

The company continues to expand its range of agents that function within the same secure infrastructure, data setting, and governance structure already familiar to its clients. One such agent, the Relevance Determination Agent, assesses documents to ascertain if they meet relevance or responsiveness criteria, offering explanations for its conclusions and assigning a probability rating.

The Issue Coding Agent reviews documents based on predefined legal, factual, or investigative themes tied to a case. A supplementary quality assurance step allows for post-processing evaluation of recall and precision rates at the level of individual issue codes.

Transparency and Control

Utilizing a proprietary multi-model methodology, both agents analyze and verify their outputs before presenting findings to reviewers. Predefined workflows mandate that users test performance against a representative sample prior to executing the agents across the entire dataset.

Accuracy is gauged through recall and precision benchmarks, while projected time and cost reductions provide legal teams with insight into anticipated outcomes before moving forward. This model merges autonomous processing with quantifiable results and human oversight.

Casepoint is also working on additional agents focused on other high-effort areas within legal, investigative, and information governance domains. Its system enables various specialized agents to collaborate sequentially throughout a workflow, progressing from relevance assessment to issue detection and beyond, eliminating the need for teams to switch between platforms.

Casepoint’s Vision

The long-term goal for Casepoint IQ involves embedding agentic AI as a cohesive layer within its unified platform, rather than deploying standalone AI applications. The two available agents function within Casepoint’s consolidated security perimeter and adhere to existing client permissions, policies, and access settings.
