1980s via the Garth-and-Shania Nineties, Loveless scored with catchy fashionable nation hits like “Chains” and “Timber, I’m Falling in Love,” even as her plaintive cry kept the genre in dialog with inspirations George Jones and Ralph Stanley. In the twenty first century, the hits stopped, but Loveless obtained even better, chopping a sequence of bluegrass albums of limits and loss the place her stoicism one way or the other conveyed the deepest passions. She famously voiced grief and luxury concurrently at Jones’ televised funeral and recently broke a public silence by bringing down the home on the CMA Awards.
